A thickened-edge concrete slab (monolithic pour) is the best all-around choice for a 20×30 garage. It provides a solid, level surface that easily supports the weight of heavy trucks. In colder Canadian provinces, using a Frost-Protected Shallow Foundation (FPSF) with rigid foam insulation is highly recommended to prevent the ground from “heaving” and cracking your floor during winter.
