Metal Pro Buildings is a Canadian steel building company headquartered in Thornhill, Ontario. We design, manufacture, and deliver prefabricated steel building kits across Canada , from residential garages and farm storage to commercial warehouses and industrial facilities. All our buildings are manufactured using 100% Canadian-made steel and certified by Canadian engineers.
We supply steel building kits for virtually every application: residential garages, workshops, homes and sheds; agricultural buildings including barns, riding arenas, and farm storage; commercial buildings including retail stores, offices, and aircraft hangars; and industrial facilities including warehouses, manufacturing plants, and cold storage. If you need a structure, we likely have a building type that fits.
Yes. Metal Pro Buildings serves homeowners, farmers, small business owners, and large commercial operators equally. Our residential customers typically build garages, workshops, or backyard storage. Commercial customers build warehouses, offices, and retail spaces. Agricultural customers build barns, equipment storage, and riding arenas. Our engineering team sizes and certifies each building for its specific use, location, and load requirements.
Three things set us apart: first, we manufacture with 100% Canadian steel and hold CWB certification (CSA A660), meaning every building meets Canadian structural standards, not imported equivalents. Second, every order includes certified engineer-stamped drawings, not just generic plans. Third, we've served Canadian buyers across every province and understand the regional differences in snow loads, seismic requirements, wind ratings, and building codes that affect your project.
Yes. Our buildings are designed with future expansion in mind. You can extend the length of most structures by adding additional bays, and we can engineer the original building to accommodate future additions. We recommend discussing expansion plans upfront so the foundation and framing are sized accordingly.
With proper installation and basic annual maintenance, a Metal Pro steel building is designed to last 50 years or more. Our steel carries a 50-year rust perforation warranty, and the Galvalume Plus™ coating provides industry-leading resistance to corrosion and UV degradation.
Absolutely. Steel buildings are highly customizable. You can choose from a wide range of exterior colours, add wainscoting, apply brick or wood-look panel cladding, select traditional or contemporary window and door styles, and add decorative trim. Many of our residential customers build steel garages and workshops that are indistinguishable from traditional construction from the outside.
Yes. We deliver to all major Canadian provinces including Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and the territories. Delivery timelines vary by location and building size.
We offer three main structural systems: Quonset hut buildings (arch-style, ideal for agricultural and storage uses), Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) buildings (lightweight, cost-effective for smaller structures), and I-Beam steel buildings (rigid frame, best for larger commercial and industrial spans). Each system has different strengths depending on your size, budget, and use case ,our team can help you choose.
Yes. Every Metal Pro building is engineered to meet or exceed the National Building Code of Canada and applicable provincial codes for its intended use and location. We provide certified engineer-stamped drawings with every order, which are required for permit applications in most Canadian municipalities.
Yes. Every order includes three sets of certified engineer-stamped drawings structural and foundational prepared by a licensed Canadian engineer. Digital copies are sent by email for your review and approval before delivery. These drawings are accepted by permit offices across Canada.
It depends on your province, municipality, zoning, and how the building will be used , there's no single rule that applies everywhere in Canada. Permits are commonly required for permanent, occupied, or utility-connected structures, but many situations are exempt: agricultural buildings, small storage structures, rural or unorganized areas, and First Nations lands often have different or no requirements. The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in your area makes the final call. We provide certified engineer-stamped drawings with every order and can help you understand what to expect before you break ground.
Our kits are designed for DIY assembly every component is pre-cut, pre-drilled, and labelled for straightforward installation. Smaller structures can be assembled by a small team with basic tools over a few days. Larger or more complex buildings, particularly commercial or industrial structures benefit from a contractor with steel building experience. We can connect you with vetted contractors from our network anywhere in Canada.
Metal Pro supplies fully engineered building kits. For installation, we maintain a network of certified and experienced contractors across Canada who have completed Metal Pro projects. If you need installation support, contact our team and we'll connect you with a trusted installer in your region. This gives you the flexibility of a prefab kit with the option of full-service delivery.
Assembly time depends on size and complexity. A small shed or single-car garage can typically be assembled in a few days. A 30×40 workshop generally takes one to two weeks with a small crew. Larger commercial or industrial buildings may take several weeks to a few months. Our team can give you a realistic timeline estimate for your specific project.
Foundation requirements depend on your building type, size, and soil conditions. Most buildings are installed on a concrete slab, concrete perimeter footing, or helical piers. Our engineer-stamped drawings include foundational specifications for your specific project. We strongly recommend consulting a local contractor about site preparation and soil conditions before ordering.
We offer a wide range of accessories including walk doors, roll-up doors, windows, skylights, louvred vents, ridge vents, gutters, insulation packages, and wainscoting. Visit our accessories section for a complete list, or speak with our team to configure the right package for your building.
We offer a broad range of standard steel panel colours. Our team can share the current colour palette when you request a quote and can advise on which colours perform best in your regional climate.

Yes. Our I-Beam buildings in particular are well-suited to adding mezzanine floors for storage or office space. The structure must be engineered to carry the additional load and discuss mezzanine plans with our team at the design stage so the frame and foundation are specified correctly.
Yes. Every Metal Pro building is engineered for the snow load and wind load requirements of your specific location in Canada from mild coastal climates to high-load northern regions. We have supplied buildings engineered for extreme conditions in Northern Quebec, the Maritimes, the Prairies, and Northern British Columbia.
We offer blanket insulation (fibreglass batt) and spray foam insulation. Blanket insulation is a popular, cost-effective choice for Quonset models and provides good thermal and condensation control. Spray foam provides a higher R-value and creates an airtight seal , ideal for heated workshops, year-round agricultural buildings, or any structure in a cold Canadian climate. We can advise on the right option for your use case and region.
Yes. Metal Pro buildings are manufactured using recycled and recyclable Canadian steel, which contributes to LEED material credits. When combined with a reflective Galvalume roof, proper insulation, and energy-efficient lighting and HVAC, a Metal Pro building can meaningfully support a project's LEED or energy performance goals. We can provide material documentation to support your certification application. Contact our team to discuss your project's sustainability requirements.

Yes. We offer flexible financing options designed specifically for steel building purchases. Financing is available for both residential and commercial projects, with approval typically within 24 to 48 hours , significantly faster than traditional bank financing.
Your monthly payment is calculated using a Finance Rate Factor applied to your building cost. The Finance Rate Factor is a periodic payment rate for the use of the asset over the financing term. Our team will walk you through the exact calculation when you apply, and payments can be structured to fit your cash flow.
Contact our team or speak with a building specialist to begin the financing process. Approval takes 24 to 48 hours and requires basic business or personal financial information depending on the type of purchase.
Yes, potentially significant ones. When you finance, you can expense your monthly payments rather than depreciating the capital cost of the building over several years , which can reduce your taxable income in the year of purchase. We offer specific tax savings financing structures. Consult your accountant or tax advisor and ask our team about the options available for your situation.
Payments are made by monthly direct debit from your bank account for the agreed financing term.
Yes. Applicable taxes are added to the monthly finance payment and paid proportionally over the financing term.
Agricultural buyers have access to the same financing structures as commercial buyers, with the added option of agriculture-specific financing programs. Farm equipment financing rules can apply to permanent agricultural structures in some provinces. Speak with our team about options and consult your accountant regarding your specific situation.
