The minimum pitch for steel roofing is generally 1:12. But for most Canadian climates anywhere that receives meaningful snowfall a pitch of 3:12 or steeper is strongly recommended. Steeper pitch means better snow shedding, fewer ice dam issues, and longer panel life. Low-slope roofs aren’t impossible, but they require specific panel profiles and additional detailing to perform reliably in Canadian winter conditions.
